Mapping of The Thirteen Gun Salute and Nutmeg of Consolation Complete
In 2018 I completed my map of the The Letter of Marque and lamented the long wait between it and the previous book. I it is satisfying, therefore, to finish mapping The Thirteen Gun Salute and The Nutmeg of Consolation in the year since.
These two books run together geographically and were a pleasure to map. Particularly fun was Stephen's meanderings around Sydney cove (my home town). It's been so long since I started the project (and last finished the series) that at this point I no longer remember the plot of the remaining books so I am looking forward to reading (and mapping) the remaining seven volumes.

Mapping of The Letter of Marque Complete
My map of the events in The Letter of Marque is complete. I was caught up with the fictional Shelmerston, St Martin's and Manton in this volume, but the long stretches of voyage in the Atlantic, North Sea and Baltic were clear enough and were simple to map. So many places all across Europe and the world mentioned in this book and I hope I got them all. The book itself is one of my favourites, though perhaps I feel that way after each one.
A bit over three and half years since I last finished a book. My slowest passage to date. Looking forward to a long voyage around the horn in the Thirteen Gun Salute

The Mauritius Campaign
Bruce Trinque, an esteemed member of the Gunroom, passed away last year. His family has given me permission to host an article he wrote many years ago which describes the history behind The Mauritius Command. It's and excellent read and I am honoured to include it on this site:

Mapping of The Reverse of the Medal Complete
My map of the events in The Reverse of the Medal is complete. The course from Barbados was pretty straightforward, though I think I could have done better around the encounter with the third (and true) Spartan. I think I may revisit this part of the course and see if I can add more detail. The end of this book was mostly set in London, with the trial and pillory, so this map has lots of interesting places scattered around the city.
I fell behind my one year per book rate for this volume (it took almost sixteen months) so I need to pick up my pace to finish the series in seven years. There's not a moment to lose!

The Catalans - Patrick O'Brian
Enjoyed this far more than Richard Temple. It is amazing the difference a likeable protagonist makes.
