Battle of Eniwetok Atoll - 17 Feb 1944

Supported by the successful a carrier strike against the Japanese base at Truk (Operation Hailstone), US troops invade and capture Eniwetok Atoll. The harbour and airfield were important for subsequent attacks on the Mariana Islands to the northwest.
