Kill Decision by Daniel Suarez
Attack of the killer lawn mowers. Actually pretty good. The first book in a long time where the technical references make sense. It was unfortunate that I identified with a character killed very early on.

Even more nostalgic and familiar than the Prince of Persia book. I was a part of the obsessive Quake subculture and well remember those amazing years from 1993 onwards when everything (thanks in a large part to John Carmack) was changing so fast.
